John Schrecongost

John Robert Schrecongost, born May 11, 1926, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, died peacefully in his sleep February 8, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert John and Mary L. Schrecongost, his sister, MaryLou and son, Brian. He is survived by his sister, Ann (Harrigan), his wife, Patricia Dibble Schrecongost, and their children, Barbara (Bell), Robert, Rebecca (Madine), William, Brenda (Angle), Bradley, Elizabeth (Rhodes), Bonnie (Monninger), and 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Schrec graduated as a mechanical engineer from the University of Maryland where he played football under Coach Bear Bryant. In 1988 he retired from a successful career to the Chesapeake Bay where he enjoyed his boat, the BEEHIVE.
A private family service will be held on Monday in Frederick, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his name at www.ALZ.org.
