John Schaeffer

John Leroy Schaeffer, 95, of Jefferson, MD passed away Monday, September 24, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg,WV.
Born January 28, 1923 in Fairview,PA, he was the son of the late William T. and Bessie (Auld) Schaeffer.
John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942-1946. He was a part of the 99th Infantry Division, the 393rd Infantry Regiment and the 393rd Medical Detachment and a Medic at the Battle at the Bulge. He was a member of the( DAV) Disabled American Veterans, the Frederick City Department of Public Works and formerly the Brunswick American Legion. In his spare time he enjoyed playing country western music on his guitar and electric trains.
He is survived by niece Connie Seward of Jefferson and nephew Bruce Jacobs of Mercersburg, PA; and numerous great nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by special friends Bill Dillon and wife Barbara and Jim Seiss.
He is preceded in death by 1 brother and 4 sisters.
There will be a graveside service on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 1PM, at the Jefferson United Church of Christ Cemetery in Jefferson.
