Mr. John William Rippeon Sr., 84 of Frederick, passed into the loving arms of Christ on January 21, 2011, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Frederick.
He was the husband of the late Mary Louise Esworthy Rippeon who predeceased him on June 9, 2007.
Born in Frederick County on December 31, 1926, he was the son of the late John Zachariah and Mary Ellen Gartell Rippeon.
Mr. Rippeon served his country in World War II in the European Theater.
He owned and operated R & K Tree Service until 1978 and J & M Maintenance until 1991 in Frederick County.
He was a member of the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, Mt. Airy and member of the Gideon’s.
His most enjoyable times were spent with family and friends as well as his devoted Bischon Buddy.
When his health permitted he enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
The candle of his life was blown out but, a new star lights up the heavens and his legacy lives on in the hearts and lives of his family.
He was the loving father of Donna Campbell and husband Jerry, of Woodsboro, John Rippeon, Jr. and wife Sally, Galen Rippeon and wife Sandy, Kimberly Pyles and husband Rodney and Sherri Rippeon and Ralph Swann all of Frederick; Loving grandfather of Tim, Todd and Tom Campbell of Woodsboro, John N., Paul and Jeff Rippeon of Frederick; Christopher Rippeon of Williamsport; Jennifer Stahley of Emmitsburg; Brandon Pyles, Frederick; Tyler Pyles, Union Bridge; Michael Rippeon and Mitchell Weedon of Frederick.
He had 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
He is survived by brothers, Roger Rippeon, Falling Waters, WV, Jack Rippeon, Chincoteague, VA, George Rippeon, Thurmont, MD and Frank Rippeon, Zellwood, FL, and sisters, June haydak, Bridgeton, NJ, Treva Hall and Mary Louise Lewis of Belair, MD.
He was predeceased by infant sister Dorothy Elizabeth and sister Irene Norwood.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Oppossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD. On Monday, January 24 from 2 – 4 and
7 – 9 pm.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 25 at 11 am at the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, 13356 Glissons Mill Rd., Mt. Airy, MD.
The Reverend Wayne Hall and The Reverend Wallace Lusk will officiate.
Viewing 1 hour prior to service.
Interment Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Pall Bearers are grandsons; Tim Campbell, Paul, Jeff, Michael, Christopher Rippeon, Brandon and Tyler Pyles and Mitchell Weedon.
Honorary Pall Bearers are grandsons Todd and Tom Campbell and John N. Rippeon.
