John Leon Ridenour, 61, passed away while surrounded by family on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born on April 25, 1948 in Frederick, Maryland, he was the son of Ruth (Leatherman) Ridenour of Boonsboro, Maryland and the late Glenn Ridenour.

Mr. Ridenour was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro, Maryland.

John worked for the Federal Government in Bethesda, Maryland for 33 years retiring in 2008. He was an avid antique car enthusiast and loved traveling and camping with his family and friends.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Deborah L. (Tucker) Ridenour; two daughters, Jennifer Ann Morgan of Boonsboro, Maryland and Amy Flora Haupt and her husband David of Myersville, Maryland; one sister, Joann Franklin of Middletown, Maryland; and two granddaughters, Kayla Louise and Brooke Ann Haupt. He is also survived by his special friends Bonnie and Glen Dale Simons of Middletown, Maryland.

He was preceded in death by one niece, Christina Fling.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland. Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Interment will be at the Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m.
