Mr. John Robert Popenfus, 79, of Frederick, MD, died Friday, October 28, 2011. He was the husband of Karen Tolvstad Popenfus.
Born July 15, 1932 in Tomah, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late John and Mae Loscher Popenfus.
Mr. Popenfus was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He taught high school for 20 years in Wisconsin. After moving to Maryland he taught at Catholic University (Washington,D.C.), at Mount Saint Mary’s College (Emmitsburg, MD) and at Shepherd University (Shepherdstown, WV).
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Carla Popenfus and husband Michael Racanella of Chester, NJ, Stephen Popenfus and partner Deborah Smith of Emmitsburg, MD and Christina Popenfus and partner John Piper of Alexandria, VA and brother-in-law Erik Tolvstad of Holmen, WI. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Services and interment will be private.
