John A. Orange, 94, died December 17, 2018 at his home in Jefferson, Maryland.
Jack was born November 8, 1924, in Washington D.C. During World War II, he served from 1943 until 1946 in the United States Navy. Following his service, he became a fireman for the D.C. Fire Department for more than 23 years. He had a deep love for the Fire Department and his work.
Jack had a very deep appreciation for nature and was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed winter camping, ice skating, hockey, hiking, dog mushing, bird watching and other wilderness activities.
Jack was an accomplished adventurer as a parachutist, hot air balloonist, scuba diver and private pilot. He is survived by a son and daughter, five grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by one grandson.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702. Visitation will be one-half hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:30am. There will be a later private interment for the family only.
