Mr. John O. Poole, 90, of Frederick, MD passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014, under the care of Hospice of Frederick Co., at his home. He was the husband of the late Virginia Frances Poole.
Born April 26, 1924 in Urbana, MD he was the son of the late Charles Edward and Emma Gertrude Young Poole.
John was one of twelve children and ten of his siblings preceded him in death. He spent his youth working on several family farms and pursued his life passion working as a carpenter all of his life. He worked for Bill Webb, Gibson Brothers, Ryan Homes, WW King and Ash Custom Exteriors. He enjoyed gardening, watching game shows and looked forward to weekly visits from his family. John will be missed by his FSK mall walking friends and the friends he made at the Golden Corral where he enjoyed going out to eat.
He is survived by his children Nancy Louise Brooks and her late husband Maurice, II of Gerrardstown, WV, Joan Marie Hernandez and husband Oscar of Falling Waters, WV, Gloria Jean Cullum and husband Robert of Frederick, MD, Allen Lee Poole and wife Andrea of Frederick, MD, and David Eugene Poole and wife Dot of Inwood, WV; grandchildren Michael Hernandez and wife Edie, Joseph Hernandez, Richard Hernandez, Maurice Brooks, III, Treasure Little and husband Steve, Nathan Hernandez and wife Jennifer, Ryan Hernandez, Robert Cullum, II, Krystal Cullum, Jennifer Cullum, Justin Cullum, Stefanie Cullum and Katie Cullum; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Walter "Bob" Poole; sister-in-law Rose Reynolds and brother-in-laws Carl Cook and James Cook and wife Angie; special niece and nephew Elsie Johnson and Randy Bartgis and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by ten siblings, 2 grandchildren Taylor and Tyler Poole; two great-grandchildren and his best friend Grace Altman.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16 at 10AM.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
