John Robert Murtaugh, Sr.

John Robert Murtaugh, Sr., 71, of Frederick, MD passed away suddenly on February 19, 2024. He was born on May 12, 1952 in Silver Spring, MD and he leaves behind his loving wife of 39 years Sharon Marie Murtaugh. John loved spending time with his family and watching sports, especially his favorite teams, the Washington Commanders, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Orioles and Washington Capitals. He was preceded in death by his parents Helen Blanch Zottoli and William Thomas Murtaugh, and his sister Mary Francis Owens. 

John is survived by his daughter Nicole Marie Pierre and husband Shawn, his son John Robert Murtaugh, Jr., and wife Bobbi,  and daughter Karen Patricia Murtaugh. He is also survived by his sisters Helen Marie Zottoli and Marjorie Jane Baumann and his brothers James Francis Murtaugh, Patrick Michael Murtaugh, and Herbert (Tom) Ingersoll.

He also leaves behind his grandchildren Jed, Melissa, and Logan Wachter, Avery Pierre, and Georgie Murtaugh. In addition, he leaves behind other close family members including Bruce Wachter, Stephanie Brown, Cayden Brown, Reagan Brown, and Angela Smith. 

Funeral services will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike Frederick, MD on Saturday, March 2nd at 2:00 pm with visitation preceding the services at 1:30 pm. There will be a celebration of life after the services.
