John David Murray

Mr. John David Murray (Murray), age 69, of Jefferson, Maryland, died on Sunday, September 8, of complications from cancer. Murray was born September 23, 1954, in Frederick, MD. He was the son of the late Thomas O. Murray Sr. and Evelyn V. Murray. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kimberly L. Murray (2023).

Murray is survived by his significant other Deedee Thompson; son Aaron Pettitt and wife Alyssa; daughters Heather Pettitt and Megan Murray; goddaughter Chloe Carrol, her husband Cody and their children Isabella, Eli, Wesley and Willow; brother Thomas Murray Jr. and wife Linda; aunt Rose Myers (95).

Murray was also preceded in death by his sister, Glenda Ahalt.

Murray worked as an equipment operator for Gabes Services Inc. for 21 years. Gabe Lawson, Rose Lawson, and countless other coworkers were like family to Murray. 

He was a devoted, patient, and attentive father to his children. He will always be remembered as the man he didn't have to be.

His hobbies included poker, hunting, gunsmithing, fishing, boating, live music, and riding motorcycles. He was a beloved, lifelong member of the Jefferson community, and will be missed by the regular customers and staff at The Brookside Inn.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 22, 4:30 - 6:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, Brunswick, MD. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 23, at 11 am at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Jefferson Union Cemetery. 

A celebration of life party will be held at The Brookside Inn on Sunday, September 29, beginning at 3 pm.
