John Jacobs

July 23, 1943 — June 13, 2018

John William Jacobs, 74, of Brunswick, Maryland, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.

He was born on July 23, 1943, in Brunswick, to the late William Edgar Jacobs and Julia Lucretia (Shaffer) Jacobs. On July 24, 1963, he married his sweetheart Diane Stoneburner and together they had three sons.

John was a truck driver most of his life. He loved and at one time owned 27 horses. His whole family participated in caring for them and many lasting memories were made at the farm. He also had a great fondness for dogs, especially one named, JuJu.

He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a great love of his Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Diane Jacobs; and sons, John William, II, Bruce Eugene and Thomas Edgar. He was the caretaker of Bonnie Willingham for 32 years. He has seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Bruce Jacobs of PA; one sister, Connie Seward of MD; and two sisters-in-law, Jane Stockes and Alice Shriner.

John was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Avenue in Brunswick, MD.

A celebration of John's life journey will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 199 North Place in Frederick. Dr. Wayne Allgaier will officiate.  Interment will be at Park Heights Cemetery in Brunswick.

Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Frederick.
