Mr. John Hoover, 81 , of Woodsboro, MD passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Country Meadows Retirement Community. He was the husband of Ruth Hoover.
Born on May 5, 1932 in Falling Waters, WV he was the son of the late Cecil Lorying and Mamie F. Knighten Hoover.
Mr. Hoover proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. John worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Department of the Navy and also a Security Officer for 8 years after his retirement. His passion was being involved with the Royal Rangers for 40 years. He also loved horses and leather craft working in his earlier years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his brothers James V. Hoover of Hagerstown and Donald Hoover and wife Mary of Columbia, MO; Goddaughter Tiffany Elswick and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by special friend Tony Norwood.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 6-8PM where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28 at 10:30AM. Pastor John Kenney will officiate.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Calvary Assembly in care of the Royal Rangers, 8234 Woodsboro Pike, Walkersville, MD 21793.
