John Brian Henning, 80, of Colleyville, Texas, passed away on October 21, 2024, at Silverado Memory Care Community located in Frederick, Maryland. John was born on September 12, 1944, in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Francis Michael and Josephine Agnes (Dickson) Henning.

John served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1967, primarily as an Aviation Structural Mechanic on the USS Yorktown and other aircraft carriers. John was proud of his Navy service and loved sharing his experiences with family and friends. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (Bronze Star) and the Good Conduct Medal (First and Second Awards).

After his military service, John had a successful career as an architect with IBM, first in Rockville, Maryland, and later in Dallas, Texas, where he retired. He held an associate's degree, which contributed to his professional success.

In retirement, John enjoyed woodworking in his large woodshop where he would build or repair furniture for friends and family. He was also an avid golfer and loved playing and watching golf tournaments. If he was traveling, his golf clubs usually went with him. John also enjoyed traveling with his wife Ann which included snow skiing trips along with an Alaskan cruise and much more.

John is survived by his daughter Theresa Ford (Tony), son Michael Henning (Kristy), and four grandchildren: Michael Henning, Joshua Ford, Alex Henning and Mackenzie Ford, and sister Joann Castle (David). He was predeceased by his wife Ann Hammond, brother Frankie Henning, and sister Ann Marie Costa.

Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
