Mr. John Charles Goetz, 72, of Woodbine, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Gilchrist Hospice Center. He was the husband of 42 years to Olive Goetz.
Born December 6, 1939 in Erie, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Mildred McQuillan Goetz.
Mr. Goetz was a veteran of the US Army.
He retired in 1989 as a police officer with Takoma Park Police Department. Following retirement, he worked in Corporate Security for Bank of America in Baltimore City.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Matthew Goetz, Mark Goetz and wife Sue, Michael Goetz and wife Meredith, and Maureen Goetz; seven grandchildren, Sophia, Gabriela, Julia, Rory, Chapman, Caroline, and Camden; and a sister, Karen Varney.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 11 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 12 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1125 St. Michael's Road, Mt.Airy, MD 21771.
Interment will be private
