John Gordon Gibert

May 4, 1972 — March 7, 2025

Hedgesville, WV

John Gordon Gibert went to be with our Heavenly Father on March 7, 2025, after a brief illness.

John was born May 4, 1972, in Newport News, Virginia, to Frank and Kum Cha Gibert (Kim).

After John graduating from Seoul American High School in Seoul South Korea in 1990, he attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.

John then moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, which he considered home, to be near his parents. From there, John joined the U.S Coast Guard, which he served on the USCGC Rush. John was stationed at Freeport, Texas.

After his service, John moved to Frederick, Maryland to be near his sister and her family. John worked at Frederick Memorial hospital as an Emergency Department technician. While working at the hospital, John met his wife, Susan (Szczesny) Gibert.

John met the love of his life and after only 6 months of dating he made sure that he had her hand in marriage, October 20, 2001. John and Susan have a beautiful daughter, Malia Gibert. Malia was John's pride and joy. John loved his daughter with his whole heart and soul.

John graduated from Frederick Community College with an associate degree in IT cyber security.

John moved his family to Oahu, Hawaii to work and live Aloha. Some of John's fondest memories are from his time in Hawaii.

John worked in cyber security at Ft. Shafter, Hawaii, Marriott International, Bethesda Maryland and Thermo Fisher Scientific, Frederick MD.

John was good at anything he did. He loved everything from the 80's and 90's, especially music. He loved helping his daughter, Malia, pursue her love of horses. Many countless hours of watching Malia train and compete at horse shows, was his joy. He provided Malia with the opportunity to own her own horses, trailer and all.

John loved fishing, softball, riding his Harley-Davidson, being in the great outdoors, eating Korean food, but most of all, he loved his family and friends.

There are so many friends John had in his life, it's hard to name them all.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Kum Cha Gibert. John is survived by his father, Frank Gibert, Sr., brother, Frank Gibert, Jr., sister Kim Croley, brother-in-law Jeff Croley, daughter Malia Gibert, niece Brianna Croley, nephew Jacob Croley, Daniel Croley , Stephen Croley and wife Susan Gibert.
