John Charles Freniere, 73, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, passed from this life unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. He was married to the love of his life Deborah Ann (Scott) Freniere for 36 wonderful years. Born on November 30, 1947, he was the son of the late Robert Eugene Freniere and Corinne (Zetts) Freniere.
John was born in Washington, DC to a military family that was proudly serving the United States of America. He attended 13 different schools in 13 years and graduated from Fairborn High School in Fairborn, Ohio. John enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After returning from the war, John started a career in the automotive parts industry and retired from School Bus Sales.
John was an avid history enthusiast and enjoyed reading history books and watching the History Channel. He loved spending time with family and friends. His favorite holiday was Christmas because he was able to visit and see his loved ones. He loved carpentry and working in his wood shop, where he taught his son the tricks of the trade. John was proud to be involved in the community, being a Fourth Degree Knight and a Past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He also served as Chaplain for the Emmitsburg VFW, and faithfully attend St. Anthony Catholic Church in Emmitsburg for over 30 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Angela (Freniere) Works, Theresa Freniere, John Joseph Freniere, and Stephanie Freniere; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. His sister and brothers, Mary Louise Ganaway (John), Robert Freniere (Cynthia), Charles Freniere (Carol), William Freniere (Patti), and many nieces and nephews. He was also survived by his Father and Mother-in-law, Joseph and Beverly Scott. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Corinne Freniere.
John was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and since he never met a stranger, he will be dearly loved and missed by many.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 pm. on Thursday, March 25th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Thurmont, Maryland.
John will be interred at Arlington cemetery at a date that has yet to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
