John P. DiCarlo, Sr., 92, of Sharpsburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Imogene DiCarlo, of 68 years.
Born on July 27, 1927, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Innocenzo and Maria DiBartolomeo DiCarlo.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving 1946-1953. John was employed by GSA. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Antietam Post 236. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.
John is survived by three children, John DiCarlo Jr. (Lynn), Jimmy DiCarlo (Angela), and Patricia Kneessi (Ralph). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jessica Smith (David), Erin Dixon (Michael), Laura Oates (Doug), Ashley Kneessi (Devon), Wayne Kneessi (Traci), Jason DiCarlo (Carla), Sarah Baker (Gary), Amanda Krupitzer (Bill); and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was the last of seven children in his immediate family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 106 South Duke Street in Shepherdstown, West Virginia with Rev. T. Mathew Rowgh as celebrant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to Mass on Friday at the church. Final resting place ceremonies will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg.
