John Deavers

John Wesley Deavers, 86, of N. Main St., Boonsboro, Maryland, died on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Born on May 9, 1924 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Maude (Rockwell) Deavers and Walter A. Deavers.
He graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1942 and worked after graduation for the Western Maryland Railroad. He began his career in banking with the Grant County Bank in Petersburg, West Virginia, and in 1953 joined The Boonsboro Bank. He retired from Hagerstown Trust Company in 1985 and worked as a local real estate agent. He was a member of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro, Maryland.
J. Wesley was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Lenora (Harman) Deavers, on February 11, 2007. He is survived by his daughter Connie D. Giles and husband Roger of Williamsport, Maryland; and grandchildren, Barrett W. Giles and his wife Erica, Benjamin R. Giles, and Calla B. Giles, all of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also survived by a twin brother, James Franklin Deavers and his wife Helen of Hagerstown; a sister, Pauline D. Jennings of Allentown, Pennsylvania; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, William Deavers, and one sister, Virginia Deavers.
A funeral service will be held at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Robert G. Brennan, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Kline Cemetery, Kline, West Virginia on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Longbon officiating.
Friends may visit beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, where the family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name will be received by Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, 134 South Main Street, Boonsboro, Maryland, 21713, or by the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, Maryland, 21740.
