John C. Cera, age 100, a retired Army Colonel and long time Federal Government engineer, died on May 9th of 2010 at Buckingham’s Choice, Adamstown, MD
Mr. Cera was born in Lorain, Ohio and graduated from Lorain High School. He also graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology (Now Carnegie Mellon University) in 1931 as an Electrical Engineer.
He was employed until 1941 by US Steel as Chief Industrial Engineer in the Lorain, Ohio and Ellwood City, Pennsylvania plants.
During World War II, Colonel Cera was on full time active duty with the Army Signal Corp. in various capacities for 6 years.
From 1946 until 1973 when Colonel Cera retired from Federal Service, he had been employed as a management engineer successively with the War Assets Administration, the Comptroller of the Army, the National Production Authority, and the Atomic Energy Commission (for 20 years).
After his government retirement, Mr. Cera worked for 2 years with the Electric Power Research Institute, Washington Office.
Mr. Cera is survived by a son, Thomas J. Cera of New Market, MD; a daughter, Nancy L. Rooney of Myersville, MD and one sister, Clarice Broglio in Lorain, Ohio.
A Memorial Service will be held at Buckingham’s Choice on Thursday, May 13 th , at 2pm. Rev. Elaine Prince presiding.
