John Cavell
February 24, 1934 — February 12, 2016
Mr. John N. Cavell, 81, of Middletown, started his journey with the Lord, on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Kline Hospice House with his family by his side. Twice married, he was the husband of the late Dorothy Cavell and the late Jackie Cavell.
Born February 24, 1934 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Ruth (Lawson) Cavell.
Mr. Cavell was a farmer for many years in the Frederick and Montgomery County areas. After retiring from farming, he devoted time to his family, church and attending auctions.
He is survived by sons, Dennis Cavell and wife, Regina, of Walkersville; Chris Cavell and wife, Beth, of Hagerstown; Norman Cavell of New York; and Richard Boyer of Virginia; daughters, Tammy Rich of Hancock and Kimberly Bowers of Middletown; 10 grandchildren, Patrick Cavell, Eric Cavell, Sheldon Best, Carrie Best, Amanda Best, Julie Best, Christopher Bowers, Bradley Bowers, Jonathan Bowers, and Stephanie Gizinski; three great-grandchildren, Matt Lokos, Benjamin Cavell, and Eli Gizinski; three brothers, Aubrey Cavell of Germantown, Roland Cavell of West Virginia, and Raymond Cavell of Gaithersburg; and a sister, Margaret Rollison.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Rudolph Cavell, Jr. and Arthur Cavell; and a sister, Louise Cooper.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Middletown United Methodist Church, 7108 Fern Ct., Middletown, with the Rev. Sarah Dorrance officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 until 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Creagerstown Cemetery following a brief reception at church.
