John Owen Cauffman, 68, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed peacefully from this life at his home on Sunday, February 26, 2017.
Born on March 25, 1948, in Hagerstown, Maryland he was the son of the late John W. and Mary V. (Hoffman) Cauffman.
Beloved husband of Brenda Starr Cauffman for 45 years.
He was a hard working, self made man who entered the workforce at the age of 12. He was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, Class of 1966. He owned Cauffman Masonry and was known for his outstanding quality of work throughout the tri-state area. John also worked at East Alcoa Aluminum prior to accepting a position at Hagerstown Block in September 1996, where he later retired as President in 2015.
He had a strong faith in Christ. He was a member of the former Grace Brethren Church on Spruce Street and attended the First Christian Church of Hagerstown.
He also was a member of the Redman's Club in Williamsport, MD and the Elks Lodge #378.
John had a generous spirit and even bigger heart. His high morals and integrity could never be compromised. His passion in life was his family and friends. He was a strong foundation of support for the Washington County Show Kids. In his spare time he enjoyed the softball league, playing golf and looked forward to the annual hunting trip in upstate Pennsylvania.
In addition to his wife Brenda he is survived by his children, John W. Cauffman, Sr. and his wife Dawn; John Dwight Reese and his wife Lisa; Tammi Lynn Itnyre; Nicole Reese Perini and her fiance Doug Lewis. Grandfather of John William Cauffman, Jr., Jacob Owen Cauffman; Noah William Cauffman; Libby Louise Anderson; Kimberly Marie Shifflett; Johnny Dwight Reese, Jr., Dominick John Perini; Maximus Paul Perini; and Adair Eve Perini. Brother of Ronald Cauffman and his wife Chris; David Cauffman and his wife Debbie. Son in law of Mary Jane Albert. He is also survived by 14 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his son in law Karl Itnyre and father in law, Percy Albert, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland.
A celebration of John's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland. Pastor Jake Caldwell will officiate. Interment will be at Boonsboro Cemetery in Boonsboro, Maryland.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Shriners Burn Institute, 3229 Burnet Avenue Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.
