John Brooks

Mr. John Joy Brooks, 83, of Frederick and formerly of Aspen Hill, Rockville, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Northhampton Manor. He was the husband of Ann Savage Brooks.
Born Nov. 7, 1927, in Portsmouth, Va., he was the son of the late Jonathan Palmer and Frances Jay Brooks.
Mr. Brooks served his country in the U.S. Navy for 24 years and retired from Vitro after 17 years of service. John was a member of the Masonic Lodge 198 in Kensington.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Steven Brooks and Kimberly Asbury and husband Paul, all of Frederick; four grandchildren, Heather Johnson, Thomas Brooks, Tony Asbury and Samantha Asbury; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Paige and Ethan Johnson; and a sister, Margaret F. Brooks.
A service of remembrance will be held from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at Crestwood Village Club House, 6902 Crabapple Drive, Frederick.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the charity of one's choice.
