Joel William Ulmer of Mount Airy, MD, born August 22, 1940 in Elmira, NY, passed away peacefully December 02, 2013.
He is survived by his wife Jane, of 48 years, his brother Jim and wife Laura, his three daughters Sharon Wallman and husband Joe, Maryanne Thompson, Heather Richter and husband Scott. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren Brennan, Sara, Riley, Connor, and Zoey Wallman, Gabby and Sean Thompson, Emily, Kaitlyn, and Leah Richter, along with nephew Rob Ulmer, wife Maggie and three children, and niece Jenny Yang, husband Ting and two children.
Joel served in the United States Army and the United States Marine Corp. He worked for thirty years at the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington.
He will be best remembered for his love for his family, selfless acts of generosity, impeccable work ethic, his fatherly advice to those in need of guidance and direction, and his humor. He touched the lives of many and will be truly missed.
The family would like to thank the care givers at Citizens Nursing Home for the love and care given to him.
