JoAnn (Reese) Lum

June 19, 1932 — October 6, 2012

JoAnn E. (Reese) Lum, 80, of Boonsboro, Maryland, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, October 6, 2012, at her home.

Born on June 19, 1932 in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late James Raymond and E. Marie (Foreman) Reese, Sr.

She was a 1950 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

JoAnn was a member of Sharpsburg Bible Church.

She was a homemaker in recent years and had managed Fleisher’s Clothing Store on the square of Hagerstown for a number of years, retiring in 1990.

JoAnn enjoyed teaching Sunday School and loved music.  She sang most of her life with the “Reese Sisters”.  She enjoyed playing the organ and piano.   JoAnn was also a volunteer at Reeder’s Nursing Home in Boonsboro, where she sang and played the piano for the residents.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard Lum, Sr.; two sons, Richard Lum, Jr and wife, Terry of Boonsboro and Joel Lum and wife, Teresa of Hagerstown;  a brother, Donald Reese of Greencastle; three sisters, Shirley Motz of Waynesboro, Nancy Taylor of Hagerstown, and Rebecca Higman of Mt. Lena; and seven grandchildren, Joshua, Alyssa, Chaney, Sarah, Kathryn, Jeremy, and Rachel Lum.  She is also survived by many  nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James Raymond Reese, Jr.  and a sister, Catherine (Reese) Newcomer.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.  Rev. Gene W. Renner will officiate.  Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Boonsboro Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sharpsburg Bible Church Building Fund, Post Office Box 216, Sharpsburg, Maryland 21782.
