It is with heavy heart, we inform you our beloved Joann Mucha passed away on May 6, 2023, after a short battle with metastatic, small-cell, lung cancer.
Joann was born to Walter Hoehler and Dorothy De Philips on May 6, 1947, in Perth Amby, N.J. A graduate of Perth Amboy High School, she then went on to graduate from Mary Mount College in Boca Raton, Fl. Joann married her high school sweetheart, Gary Mucha. Joann and Gary lived a wonderful life, creating many memories with their family and close friends. They recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary, on March 2, 2023.
Joann was a primary education teacher, teaching Pre-K through 8th grade, specializing in Early Childhood Education. She had a special place in her heart for children, as well as a love for animals. Joann led a very active life throughout her younger years, playing racquetball, tennis and golf. Joann loved spending time with her family most of all and loved to travel with her husband Gary and children.
Joann is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gary Mucha; her oldest daughter Jill Rodda, her son in law Randall Rodda, her four grandchildren, Matlin Xenakis, Delaney Xenakis, Christian Xenakis and Siley Rodda; as well as her youngest daughter Lisa Abbe, her son in law Sam Abbe and her two stepsons Gabriel Abbe and Joseph Abbe.
As we mourn the loss of our incredibly loving wife, mother, and Nana, we also celebrate the ways she touched the lives of others. We will forever cherish the memories and the legacy she leaves
behind. Friends and family may pay respects to Joann and her family from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
