Joann Bowie, most beloved wife and mother of Hagerstown, MD quietly slipped into eternal rest with the Lord, on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the age of 70.  She was the wife of the late Michael L. Bowie, Sr.

Born on December 20, 1943 in Frederick, MD she was the daughter of the late Lillian V. Harris and Wilbert R. Harris.  Joann attended Lincoln High School, and was a loving and wonderful mother who cared about everyone.  Joann loved music, dancing and spending time with family and friends.

Joann is survived by her seven loving children, Dianna DeLouney and her husband Gary of Hagerstown, Michelle Bowie of Hagerstown, Michael Bowie, II and his wife Lena of Walkersville, Coralene Bowie of Frederick, Carol Bowie of Mt. Airy, Raymond Bowie and his wife Garnetta of Frederick, Curtis Bowie and his wife Dawn of Westminster; 21 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Brenda Kamper, Elise "Carol" Branison, and Haronia Jackson; one brother, Murray "Poncho" Harris; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by two sisters, Francis Branison and Mary "Frankie" Biggus; one brother Delmar "Pablo" Harris; four uncles and two aunts; one granddaughter Tonette Harris; two grandsons Tirail Jackson and O'tajmah Bowie; and one great-grandson Xavier Hall.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 12-1PM where a service will begin at 1PM.  Pastor Edward J. Rollins, Sr. will officiate.

Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
