Jo Mullendore

Jo Cavender Johnson Mullendore, age 61, of Boonsboro, MD, was called home on Oct. 6, 2007.

Born April 9, 1946 in Elkins, WV, she was the daughter of the late Richard M. and Ann C. Johnson of Berkeley Springs, WV.

Jo was a 1964 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School and a 1968 graduate of West Virginia University.

She was a retired lobbyist with Allegheny Energy and had also worked for the Pennsylvania State Chamber of Commerce with its Government Affairs Group.

Jo was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg, MD, where she was active with the vestry and the altar guild.

She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at West Virginia University, past president of the Boonsboro Rotary Club and had been a participant in many civic and community activities in the Boonsboro and Berkeley Springs areas. She took particular pride in working to re-light the Washington Monument at Washington Monument State Park near Boonsboro.

Jo is survived by her husband of 36 years, Stuart L. Mullendore of Boonsboro; one son, Alan D. Mullendore and wife Johanna of Boonsboro; two brothers, RADM J. Michael Johnson of Lake In The Hills, IL, and D. Christopher Johnson of Brentwood, TN; nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard M. Johnson Jr., who was of Berkeley Springs.

The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 2 at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro from 5 to 7 p.m.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 at St. John's Episcopal Church, Prospect St., Hagerstown with Fr. Scott Bellows officiating.

Private burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery, Boonsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742, or the American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Arrangements are by Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro.
