Jimmy McLain, 89, of Walkersville, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at his home. He was the loving husband of Wanda McLain.
Born on October 17, 1933, in Waynesboro, MS, he was one of 17 children born to the late Ellis McLain and Clyda Mae (Overstreet) McLain.
Jimmy was a veteran of the U.S. Army. While stationed in Maryland, he met his future wife Wanda at a dance in Mt. Airy.
He was a proud owner/operator McLain Home Improvements for over 40 years.
Jimmy was an active member of Calvary Assembly of God in Walkersville, where he participated in many activities. Additionally, he was an avid Redskins and Orioles fan.
Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Lonnie McLain (Julie), Tammy Woodward (David), Melody Crouse (Tim), and Jimmy McLain (Stacey) all of Frederick County; 20 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; five siblings, all from Waynesboro, MS; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Hans Woodward and 11 siblings.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 40 Fulton Avenue in Walkersville, MD.
A celebration of Jimmy's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from the funeral home chapel with Pastor John Kenny officiating.
Interment will follow at Glade Cemetery in Walkersville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Assembly of God, 8234 Woodsboro Pike, Walkersville, MD 21793.
