Through the eternal truth and unfathomable mercy of Jesus Christ, our Savior, Jimmie Gaye Zimmerman received her eternal reward of everlasting life with Jesus on April 16, 2023.
Born at home on August 3, 1947, in Bluefield, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Walter Ball and Eileen Fields Ball. In addition to her parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 48 years Brian Zimmerman. She is survived by her loving son, Walter Zimmerman and caring daughter, Malissa Zimmerman Lorson (Joe), both of Jacksonville NC; grandchildren: Caitlin Cook Ausherman, Allison Cook Cunningham (Josh), Joshua Lorson, Jeniffer Lorson, Justin Lorson and Jacquelyne Lorson, all of Jacksonville NC; along with 8 great grandchildren whom Jimmie was blessed with.
Also surviving Jimmie are sisters Joann Ball Johnson of Hampstead, NC and Nancy Ball Meng of St. Joseph, Missouri and brother-in-law Preston Ruble of Bluefield, WV numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Jimmie leaves behind several wonderful friends who gave her many years of laughter and friendship. Jimmie’s family thanks each of them for the time they took to spend with her. Jimmie was also preceded in death by sisters Brenda Sue Ruble, Kathy Eileen Poszich, and brothers in law Robert Poszich, Richard Johnson, and Wayne Meng.
Jimmie worked as Secretary to president of Syscon, a defense contractor in Washington, DC where she met her late husband, Brian. Upon retirement, Jimmie continued to work with her husband as a Real Estate agent in Frederick, MD before moving to Jacksonville, NC in 2017 to be closer to her son and daughter (Walter and Missy).
Jimmie was an avid crafter and home decorator who could make a silk purse from a pig’s ear. Jimmie also greatly enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening; and she sure loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jimmie died at home surrounded by her family as they prayed over her.
Jimmie was honored to help decorate the St. John’s church several years for the Christmas season. She loved to share her creations with her community.
There will be a funeral Mass at St. John’s Catholic Church, 118 East 2nd St., Frederick, MD 21701 followed by a Christian burial. Mass will be held at 11:30am on Friday, April 21, 2023, the burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick.
