Jessie James Semones

Jessie James Semones was born December 2, 1933 in Parrot, VA and went to be with his Savior on Thursday, December 28, 2023.

Jessie was predeceased by his parents Charlie Semones and Carrie Lou (Gravely) Semones; his older siblings Walter Lee Semones and Dorothy Semones Bain, and niece Judy Semones Keene.

Jessie was stationed in Japan while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, 1954-1956.

He was married to Jean Nester Semones from 1956 for 41 years until her passing in 1997. He loved his family completely, was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, dedicated employee, and humble man of God. He was always smiling, full of one-liners, and would stop what he was doing to help whenever someone needed a hand, whether, family, friend, or neighbor. The guy could fix just about anything. He hugged so tight we could barely breathe; enjoyed playing tricks on his kids, grandkids/great-grandkids; and could be heard whistling most all the time.

He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Philis Slusher Semones; daughters Edwina “Wendy” Huzzy (Eric) and Jessica Seyfried (Brandon); five stepchildren Kay Evans (Ed), Deborah Lile (Eric), Cindy Harrington (Robert, Jr.), James Slusher (Thom), Joseph Slusher (Hui); 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and close sister-in-law, Edwina Gulbronson. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
 
A celebration of Jessie's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD 21701.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jessie's memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, or the American Diabetes Association.
