Jerry Shelley

Mr. Jerry E. Shelley. 75, of Frederick, MD, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014. He was the husband of the late Laura E. Shelley.
Born August 9, 1939 in Honea Path, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Clarence F. and Emeline McClain Shelley.
Mr. Shelley served his Country in the U. S. Army. He retired after 30+ years of service, as Events Coordinator, from the Washington D. C. Sports Commission. He was a member of the Bethesda Chevy Chase Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, horses and crabbing.
He is survived by his children James Welter of Salida, CO, Robert A. Shelley and wife Barbara Y. Shelley and daughter Angelia C. Shelley-Ridenour and husband Timothy O. Ridenour all of Thurmont, grandchildren Brooke Fogle, Carly Ridenour, Christopher Welter and Brittany Welter, a brother William Shelley and wife Jane of Wakeforest, NC., and a sister-in-law Tammy Shelley-Payne. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a grandson Bryan Welter and brothers James, Dennis and Clarence “Rick” Shelley.
A memorial service will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Tuesday, February 4, at 6:00 pm. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 pm until service time.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bethesda Chevy Chase Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, 20601 Izaak Walton Way, Poolesville, MD 20837
