Jerome Ford Sr.

Mr. Jerome M. Ford Sr., 81, of Frederick, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

He was the husband of Catherine M. Ford, who died April 14, 1981.

Born April 19, 1929, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Raymond H. and Justine McCauley Ford.

A veteran, he served in the Army with the 11th Airborne Division in Japan. He was recalled during the Korean War, again serving with the 11th Airborne Division. He was a graduate of paratroopers, glider man, air transport and demolition schools while in the service.

He retired July 5, 1991, after 42 years from CFX Corp. He began as a student telegrapher with the B&O in June 1949, retiring as a passenger agent. He was the last railroad man to work inside Camden Station when it closed Jan. 28, 1986.

He is survived by a daughter, Anna V. Burd of Hemet, Calif.; a son, Jerome Ford Jr. of Emmitsburg; five grandchildren, Leonard Wafford, Alexander Ford, Christian Ford, Nicholas Ford and Christopher Ford; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lutz; and a daughter-in-law, Mimi Ford.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Justine Ford-Euler; his brothers, Kenneth Ford, Raymond Ford and Herbert Ford; a sister, Norma Lee Anderson; and special friends, Ann Denny and Faith Camillers.

Inurnment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
