Jerome (Jerry) Michael Creedon, 92, of Frederick, Maryland, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
Jerry was born February 4th, 1932 in Sayre, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Francis Lamont Creedon and Jane Hughes Creedon. He had five siblings which included his twin sister, Nancy Tierney as well as Jim Creedon, Jack Creedon, William (Bill) Creedon, and Andrea McMaster.
Jerry married his high school sweetheart in 1953, Louise Rose Creedon. They were married for 67 years until her passing in 2021.
Jerry graduated from Waverly Senior High School in 1950. He attended Lehigh University and graduated with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering in 1957, taking semesters off from school to work. His education, graduation, and ability to put himself through school was an accomplishment he fondly reflected on throughout his life.
Jerry was employed by IBM for 32 years, amongst the engineers changing the world through rapid technological advances. After retiring in 1989, he went back to work at IBM as a subcontractor until 2004. He loved being an engineer and would proudly share with others the accomplishments that IBM was responsible for that are used everyday like the GPS and barcode scanning.
Born into a big family, Jerry carried on that legacy with his own family of seven children. The Creedon household in Montgomery Village became the home where everyone gathered. A place where every holiday and birthday was celebrated for many years. Sundays were reserved for family dinners with his wife, children, grandchildren, and the occasional friend. Jerry cared for a large garden for many years, made his own specialty Italian Salad Dressing, and was notorious for his daily grocery store trip for fresh groceries.
Jerry loved his wife, Louise, dearly. Together, they were active members of various Catholic Churches in Montgomery Village and Frederick over the years. They enjoyed road trips up the East Coast and frequently traveled back home to Pennsylvania to visit family. In their later years, Jerry took care of Louise as she developed Alzheimer’s disease.
He is survived by his seven children; Francis L. Creedon and wife Julia; David R. Creedon and wife Laura; Melinda J. Creedon; Andrew J. Creedon and wife Lisa; Mark J. Creedon; Daniel J. Creedon; Michelle Cornett and husband James.
Jerry had 12 grandchildren which included late David James Creedon, Meghan Creedon, Leighann O'Connor and husband Christopher, Corey James, Ryan Creedon, Michaela Bass, Andrew Creedon, Jr., Carson Creedon, Nicholas Creedon, Erin Cornett, Christopher Cornett, Cameron Cornett; and great grandchildren, Keevan Howard, Jameson O'Connor, and Emersyn O’Connor.
The family would like to thank Frederick Health Hospice and Village Crossing at Wormans Mill for their loving care and compassion.
The family will receive friends to honor both Jerry and Louise from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 10 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
