Jennifer Elaine Yokley, 47, of Ijamsville, MD, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, surrounded by family and friends, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, after her long fight with ALS. She was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, a life-long Maryland resident, and the daughter of Clyde M. Yokley and Margaret L. Hepburn.
She is survived by her two children, Amanda Young and Kenny Young, her brother, Alexander Yokley, her husband, Steven Solow, her mother, Margaret Hepburn, her father, Clyde Yokley, and many other relatives and friends.
Prior to her diagnosis with ALS, she suffered from renal disease, which resulted in her receiving two kidney transplants – in 1997 and 2008. Her mother donated the first, and her long-time friend, Chantal Reefe, donated the second.
She completed an Associates of Arts Degree from Montgomery College in 1994, and worked as an X-Ray Radiologist for several health care facilities, including Children’s Hospital of Washington, D.C., and, most recently, OrthoBethesda.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Stauffer Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, which is located at 8 East Ridgeville Boulevard.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ALS Association DC/MD/VA Chapter (http://webdc.alsa.org/site/PageServer?pagename=DC_homepage ).
