Jennie Ortega, 60, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at her home in Frederick. She was the beloved wife of Jose Ortega Jr.
Born on August 19, 1960, in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the Johnny Torres and Carmen Almodovar Rodriguez.
Who was Jennie? To her friends she was known as Jennie or Sister Ortega. To Jennifer and Richard she was ma and to Janay it was mother. To her grandkids (Brian, Joshua/Principe, Cielo and Elizabeth), a.k.a. Cortt, Ashton, Jordan, Megan, she was known as Abuela and to her Joe, she was Babe or Dimples. So many briefly knew her, but to truly know her it would leave a lasting impression. She was passionate about her grandkids and wanted to be a part of everything they were involved in. She impacted everyone that knew her. She was the life of the party whenever and wherever she was. One huge distinguishing characteristic to describe Jennie, that she was passionate and had a generous giving heart for people. Her passion for souls was always in the forefront of her mind. She never met a stranger. She was a prayer warrior that did not hesitate to pray for someone who was in need. She did not care nor did it matter when or where she was, she would take the time to stand in the gap for her family, friends or a stranger. She had a deep love and devotion to her DADDY (JESUS) and took every opportunity to witness passionately the love of God. Her spiritual boldness was extraordinary in reaching out to the hurting, to those who was in search for something missing in their lives. Her heartfelt worship was like no other. She had the most lovable infectious laugh. She was a fearless person, never afraid to express her thoughts and feelings. She did not sell out to her convictions and remain adamant to the end. Even though she faced her biggest trial in her final days, she was more concern for the need of her family and friends than she was of her own. She took every ounce of energy to ensure others were taken care of. She would sacrifice herself to meet the needs of others. She was a remarkable, virtuous and truly a woman of God. That is who Jennie was.
