Jeffrey (Jeff) W. Wetzel, age 61, was born May 24, 1963 in Gettysburg, PA and passed away suddenly on Monday, October 28, 2024.
Jeff was a loving husband to Leslie Wetzel, his wife, for 39 years. He was the son of the late Edward A. Wetzel, Sr. and Georgette L. (Tinker) Powell.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Shawn (Brandy) Wetzel and Steven (Cassandra) Wetzel all of Thurmont; and grandson, Keith Wetzel, of Thurmont. He is also survived by his stepmom, Patsy Wetzel, of Emmitsburg, MD; and siblings, Edward (Connie) Wetzel, Jr. of Walkersville, MD, Michael Reed of West Virginia, Joseph Wetzel of Tennessee, Patty Gilliam of Waynesboro, PA, Lois (Tim) Wantz of Littlestown, PA, Ernest Heward of Gettysburg, Robert Heward, Jr. of Gettysburg, Jeffrey (Kim) Heward, Sr. of Biglerville, PA and Thomas (Cindy) Heward of Waynesboro, PA; and lots of nephews and nieces.
Jeff graduate Catoctin High in 1981 and worked for Shenandoah Plastics, General Electric and Blue Linx. Jeff was also a member of the Blue Ridge Sportsman Association (BRSA), Fairfield, PA.
He enjoyed spending time with family and dear friends. Jeff also enjoyed tinkering on anything that didn’t work or run stating “can’t break something that already doesn’t work”, working around the house, helping family, friends and neighbors with whatever was needed.
Pap will be especially missed by his grandson Keith who was his “best buddy” and they went everywhere together when Keith was out of school and weekends. They would fish everyday they could and as soon as the hunting season started they were getting ready, they would try their hand at gardening or whatever they thought would be fun and interesting. Pap would explain how things worked and teach Keith how to try and repair anything broken.
There will be a private gathering of family and dear friends to celebrate Jeff’s life.
