Jeffrey Flory

September 27, 1952 — January 20, 2016

Jeffrey Lynn Flory lost his battle of nearly three years to Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, with his devoted wife of almost 30 years, Gwen (Lindsay) Devlin Flory at his side. Jeff, the son of Donald E. and Evelyn (Smith) Flory, was born September 27, 1952 at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma.

Jeff was a 1970 graduate of Smithsburg High School, where he was Drum Major of the marching band, as well as a standout basketball player for the Leopards. He attended Hagerstown Junior College (now HCC) and was a graduate of UA Apprenticeship School.

Jeff was a journeyman pipe fitter and welder out of Local #602, Heating, Piping and Refrigeration of Washington, DC for 43 years. He retired from John J. Kirlin LLC as a piperfitter foreman in 2013.

Prior to his illness, Jeff was an avid golfer and member of Beaver Creek Country Club.

In addition to his wife and both parents, Jeff is survived by one son, Jeffrey L. Flory, II of Midland, PA, one stepson, Christopher P. Devlin of Waynesboro, PA, one stepdaughter, Erin E. (Devlin) Peterson and husband Shawn, three granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Madeline and Natalie Peterson of Waynesboro, PA, one sister, Kelly (Flory) Drosdak and husband, Lee, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved Cockapoo, Disney.

He was preceded in death by his stillborn son, Matthew Flory.

A viewing and visitation will be held at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old  National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland, on Monday, January 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will also be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 26, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Boonsboro Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.

Flowers are acceptable but in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeff's memory to either John R. Marsh Cancer Center at Robinwood, 11110 Medical Campus Road, Hagerstown, Maryland 21742 or to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740.

The family would like to thank Dr. Michael J. McCormack, his staff and the staff and volunteers of John R. Marsh Cancer Center for their excellent care and concern during Jeff's lengthy illness. We would also like to thank Hospice of Washington County for their excellent end of life care.
