Jeffrey Lane Adkinson, age 70, of New Market, Maryland passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025. He was born on May 13th, 1954, son to the late John Powers Adkinson and Lois Elizabeth (Lawrenson) Adkinson.
Jeff had a distinguished career as a broadcast engineer in the Television Broadcast industry. He worked many years at CNN, The Associated Press, and NBC DC and consistently earned recognition for his expertise and the outstanding relationships he formed with his colleagues.
Outside of work, Jeff found passion in various activities; he could not sit still. He was an avid golfer, great poker player, mechanic and handyman, a true jack of all trades. There was nothing he couldn’t teach himself. Jeff was also a dedicated Redskins fan and was thrilled to watch the Redskins play in the NFC championship this past fall. He was known as a loyal, calm, smart, and caring family man – but was known most of all for his witty sense of humor.
Jeff was a devoted father - survived by his adult children Nicholas Adkinson (wife Brianna), Claire Boehner (husband Seth), Eric Andree (wife Nicole), and Sterling Hallfors (wife Joy), as well as brother Randy Adkinson (wife Janice) and nephew Mark Adkinson (wife Loretta Alberti-Adkinson). Also survived by former spouse Brenda Adkinson and grandchildren Caleb Andree, Hannah Andree, Charlotte Adkinson, August Hallfors, Wren Adkinson, and Freya Hallfors.
Jeff left his kids with the parting message “We all die but the difference is how well you lived, and I lived mine to the fullest.”
The family will receive family and friends for a celebration of Jeff’s life on Saturday May 24th, 2025 at 11AM at the Brook Hill United Methodist Church (8946 Indian Springs Rd, Frederick, MD 21702) where he was a long-time member. The service will be followed by a reception.
