Mrs. Jeannine Elizabeth (Turner) Blair, age 67, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 surrounded by family at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C.
She was born on May 29, 1948 in Washington, D.C. to the late James William and Martha Elizabeth (Williams) Turner. She was married to George Richard Blair, Jr., Lt.Col. (Ret.) for 45 years, until his death in early 2014. Jeannine is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Lencioni and husband John and daughter Christine Chenausky and husband Brad; her grandsons, Adrian and Christopher Lencioni; her brothers, Donald Turner and wife, Lee, and Jim Turner and wife Janie; nieces and nephews Olivia Turner, Bill Turner, Lanee Turner, Lorea Turner, Curtis Turner and Elizabeth Turner Zurn.
In her youth, she was an active member of Job’s Daughters and roller-skated competitively. She was a supervisor at Geico Insurance for 12 years and later worked at Safeway in Damascus for nearly 20 years until her health prevented her from continuing to work outside the home. Her creativity was best displayed through her costume creations and cake decorating. In January 2004, Jeannine was the recipient of a successful kidney transplant that extended the length and quality of her life. Her family is grateful for the care that she was given by her physicians.
Throughout her life Jeannine embodied true friendship, generosity and consistent love and acceptance to those dear to her. She created a strong network of close friends that became more and more like family and created a home where many children knew they were always welcome.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, July27, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt Airy where funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 28. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jeannine’s honor to American Diabetes Association, 800 Wyman Park Drive, Suite 110, Baltimore, MD 21211.
