Mrs. Jeannette Young Wiley, 98, of Thurmont, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Roger F. Wiley, who predeceased her on December 1, 2013 after nearly 66 years of marriage.
Born February 21, 1920 in Graceham, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Letha (Joy) Young.
Jeannette was a lifelong and faithful member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Thurmont. She loved cooking and spending time with her family and friends. However, times spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were most precious to her.
Jeannette worked as an Estimator for many years at Moore Business Forms. She regularly attended the retirees club and kept in touch with many of her fellow co-workers. Additionally, she was a devoted member of the VFW Auxiliary of Emmitsburg and the American Legion Auxiliary of Thurmont.
She is survived by her son Clyde Matthew Wiley and wife, Sandra, of Thurmont; two grandchildren, Erica Hayes and husband, Jeff, and their daughter, Tessa, of Tennessee; and Chad Wiley and wife, Nicole, and their children, CJ and Mia, of Texas; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including special cousin, Gloria Bauerline; her special caregiver and longtime family friend, Sue Clabaugh; as well as additional family members.
She was predeceased by her sister, Fran Ward; two brothers, Ralph Young and Pete Young; and two infant siblings.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Jean Heims, Kathyrn Gage, Geneva Coren, Irene Miller, and Doris Shriner, as well as Hospice of Frederick County for the wonderful comfort and care given to Jeannette.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 103 N Church St, Thurmont with Rev. J. Collin Poston officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Chad Wiley, Larry Clabaugh,Terry Young, and Fred Young, Howard Davis and Mike Ward.
