Jean Reddick

August 26, 1928 — October 10, 2018

Jean Bible Reddick passed away on October 10, 2018 in Adamstown, MD, after a long illness. She reached the milestone of 90 years on August 26th, a birthday shared with her daughter, Linda.

Jean was born in Flintstone, MD, and was the second daughter among five sons. She spent all of her life in Maryland, moving to Hyattsville as a young woman and later settling in Wheaton and then Rockville with her children and husband Donald Reddick, an esteemed educator and high school principal who passed away in 2008. After raising her children, she went on to work as a secretary at a local elementary school, College Gardens, in Rockville for many years.

Jean was a devoted grandmother who hosted her grandchildren often at her home in Rockville, ending many evenings with a round of card games that she taught them to play. Jean and her husband Don shared a love of the beach.  She enjoyed daily walks and the occasional bike ride around her Woodley Gardens neighborhood, a tradition she continued in Adamstown until her illness made it impossible to continue.

Later in life, Jean took up several new hobbies, including playing golf and piano, and enjoyed classical piano music. She and Don moved to Integrace Buckingham’s Choice in 2004.

She is survived by Linda and husband, Frederick Brainerd; grandchildren, Gina Wimpey, Peter Montefusco and Cara Brainerd, and daughter, Nancy Reddick; as well as two surviving brothers, Richard Bible and Dale Bible. She is also fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family wants to add a special note of gratitude to the nursing and support staff at Buckingham’s Choice as well as to Hospice of Frederick County.

Services will be private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stauffer Funeral Home and Stauffer Crematory, Inc.
