Jay Franklin Fisher

Mr. Jay Franklin Fisher, 49, of Walkersville, MD died Saturday July 12, 2008.

Born in Reading, PA on February 7, 1959, hew as the son of Nancy Fisher Layman of Crestwood Village in Frederick, and the late James L. Fisher who preceded him in death in 1971. Jay was also the grandson of the late Rev. Franklin A. Rosenberger former pastor of Glade United Church of Christ in Walkersville.

A graduate of Walkersville High School class of 1978, Jay was a painter by trade. A Civil War collector, he was an outdoors man who loved to hunt and fish. Jay enjoyed metal detecting, and owned a complete National Geographic Collection of over 70 years. He was an avid collector of a wide variety of antiques and collectibles.

Besides his mother, survivors include his two loving daughters, Kristina Marie Fisher of Walkersville, and Kimberly Renee Rutherford and husband Tim of Keymar, MD; his grandsons, Timothy William Rutherford, Jr, and Tyler Wyatt Rutherford; a sister, Cynthia L. McInnis and husband Joseph of Jamison, PA; his nephews, James and Eric, and nieces, Grace and Emily; the mother of his children, Kellie Willett; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jay was also preceded in death by his step father, Robert L. Layman in 1993.

Visitation: Services and interment will be private.

Services: The family will receive friends on Friday, July 18th from 5 until 9 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, MD.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Glade United Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, 21 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, Md 21793.
