Mr. Jay “Cliff” Smyers, 64 of Frederick, MD., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, Wednesday, April 24, 2013. He was the adoring husband of Janet Harkins Smyers.
Born May 9, 1948, he was the son of the late Jack R. and Mary Delores Quirin Smyers.
Cliff was a man of God committed to his Christian faith and values. He continuously sought out and encouraged the great potential in others. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and was an avid player, coach, and fan of sports.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Cindy Sandelin and husband Jon of Williamsburg, VA, Brian Smyers and wife Ginger of Frederick, Beth Grimes and husband Brian of Talbott, TN and Gin Bacon and husband B.J. of Charlottesville, VA, grandchildren Cole, Emme, Ethan, Alicia, Elyse, Savannah, Kristin, Kyla, Piper, Keziah, Ben, and soon to be Fiona, his sister Suzanne Kramer and husband Bill of Bethel Park, PA. Many caring nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 11:00 am from Church of the Redeemer (Frederick, Md.), with a lunch served afterwards.
