Jay Roberts

Jay G. Roberts, 54, of Keedysville, Maryland, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Born on April 30, 1956 in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, he is the son of Joan (Ryder) Roberts of Narrowsburg, New York and the late Lawrence Roberts.

He was a Vietnam era veteran who proudly served his country.  Some of the places that he served at were CENTCOM at Tampa, Florida; Camp Drake, Yokota Air Base in Japan; and Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.

Jay was employed at Lockheed Martin where he worked as a Senior Program Manager.  He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Jay was a devoted family man who will be greatly missed.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Marjorie E. (Lee) Roberts; one daughter, Jeri E. Claude of Martinsburg, West Virginia; two sons, William C. Horton of Imperial, Pennsylvania and Darrell G. Horton of Oakland, Maryland; one brother, Kirk Roberts of Narrowsburg, New York; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his niece, Catherine Roberts and his nephew, James Roberts.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, October 25, 2010 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Additionally, a funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the Thomas-Little Funeral Service, 5000 Noblestown Road, Oakdale, Pennsylvania.  The family will also receive friends one hour prior to this service.  Burial will follow at Robinson Run Cemetery in McDonald, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Foundation for the Blind, 2 Penn Plaza, Suite 1102, New York, New York, 10121.
