Jason Minnick

July 4, 1977 — October 5, 2024

Middletown

On the morning of Saturday, October 5th, Jason Minnick, the guy with an incredible sneaker, watch and car collection, passed away peacefully at home in Middletown, MD, after a private and incredibly brave battle with brain cancer.

One of three children born to Robert and Darlene Minnick, Jason was born in Leesburg, VA on July 4, 1977, but grew up in Brunswick, MD, home of the Railroaders. He was 47.

He married the love of his life, Sara, in May of 2006 and they became parents in 2011 with the birth of their son, Ronin who often matches his dad’s wit and sense of humor.

He will be immensely missed by his brother, Robby Minnick, sister Heather Reinart and husband Matthew; sister-in-law Caty Griffin and husband Kenny; nieces Ella and Layla Griffin, Savannah Hammond (Kevin), Josie Esler (Dylan), Sophie Reed (Cole), Caroline Reinhart, Bella Reinhart and Madelyn Reinhart; nephews Skyler Cook, Kenny Griffin, Nathan Minnick, Magnum Hammond and Greyson Esler; mother-in-law, Debbie Noonan, father-in-law Gale “Cookie” Cook and wife Maddie, and a slew of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Helen Minnick and Gorman and Ruth Hines.

If you’re a longtime friend of Jason, you will remember his days as Assistant Manager of Foot Locker with his buddy Brent or car salesman at Fitzgerald Auto Mall. After graduating from Brunswick High School in 1995, Jason entered the technology arena and was a respected leader in the software industry. Over the course of his career, he advanced from a software engineer to serving as Chief Technology Officer at Cyber Threat Alliance where he helped drive innovation. His mentorship shaped the careers of many in the field. Jason’s passion for technology was matched only by his dedication to those around him, leaving a profound mark on both his colleagues and the companies he contributed to. Some of those companies being Department of Energy, Learning Stream, The Department of State, and IronNet, to name a few.

Jason loved all things fitness and Kings Pizza and was a huge supporter of youth sports where he not only supported but coached Ronin’s baseball team for many seasons. He was also an avid dog person and particularly loved his canine companion, Franco, who was by his side until the end.

Jason will never be forgotten but forever remembered and missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Especially his best friend, Eric.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of the United States.

Family will receive friends at Middletown United Methodist Church, 7108 Fern Court, Middletown, MD Saturday, October 12th at 10 with a celebration of Jason’s life directly following at 11. Sara has asked that in remembrance of Jason that people wear their brightest sneakers, favorite watch and drive their fancy cars.

Sara would also like to express her heartfelt gratitude to all the family and especially Jason’s friends who selflessly offered their love and time to her, Jason and Ronin through this journey.
