Janice Tritapoe

Janice Lorraine (Poffenberger) Tritapoe, 84, of Hagerstown, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Broadmore Assisted Living in Hagerstown. She was married for 52 years to the late Edward Maurice Tritapoe, who preceded her in death in 2006. Born on October 21, 1933, in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of Clarence Olen Poffenberger and Sylvia Evelyn (Hutzell) Poffenberger.
Janice was a 1951 graduate of Boonsboro High School. She worked for Hanover Shoe Company in Middletown for 21 years as an assembler, until her retirement in 1984. Mrs. Tritapoe and her husband were longtime members of Brownsville Church of the Brethren.
Mrs. Tritapoe is survived by a son, Arvin W. Tritapoe and wife Linda; a daughter, Karen Harne and husband Jack; grandchildren Brian Tritapoe, Allen Tritapoe and Katie Wolfensberger and great-grandchildren Brianna, Aron, Brenden and Daniel. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret V. Miller.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. A celebration of Janice's life journey will take place on Monday, May 21 at 12:00 PM at Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road in Knoxville, Maryland. Interment will be in the Brownsville Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
