Janice Lorraine Kendle, 88, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 in the Alzheimer's Unit at Sterling Care at South Mountain (formerly Reeder's Memorial Home).

Born November 29, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Welty and Lela Ridenour and lived all her life in Mt. Lena.

Janice was a devoted and loyal wife of Ralph E. Kendle and they would have been married 70 years on April 23rd.

She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School 1947 and was a contractor with the Washington County Board of Education, driving bus 61C for 31 years transporting children to Greenbriar Elementary and Boonsboro Middle and High Schools. Driving those students to and from school brought great joy to her life. She also enjoyed bowling and was on several teams during her life. She spent her lifetime dedicated to her family. She was member of Beaver Creek Christian Church and Funkstown American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her children; Dale Kendle (Betty) of Williamsport, Carolyn Moser-Smith (David), and Michael Kendle both of Hagerstown; grandchildren Deanna Baile of Smithsburg, Melanie Moser of Baltimore, and Scott Kendle (Renee) of Williamsport; four great-grandsons, Brett and Brady Baile and Conner and Grayson Kendle and sister Sharon Swoveland (Don) of Arizona, as well as numerous nieces and nepwhes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Lon, Harold and John Ridenour, and son-in-law Dennis Moser.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 11AM at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 20402 Beaver Creek Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sterling Care at South Mountain and Hospice of Washington County for the care given to Janice.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of WAshington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
