Janet E. Snurr , 92, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at St. Catherine's Nursing Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles L. Snurr for 63 years.
Born on March 15, 1926, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Blanch (Gearhart) Eyler
Janet was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ and also the America Legion Auxiliary, Thurmont , MD Post 168 and the Thurmont AMVETS, Post 7.
Janet enjoyed spending time with her family and making her special dishes, and spending time at their second home at the beach in Ocean City, MD. Janet had something special she did with each one of her grandchildren. In her younger days she loved spending time with her friends especially Saturday nights out at the American Legion. Janet loved to share her childhood stories and shared many of them with her caregivers at St. Catherine's. She was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother and will be sorely missed by all that new her. Janet always shared that she lived a full and blessed life.
She is survived by her daughter, Tonya Long and husband Gary of Fairfield, PA and her son, Dwayne Snurr of Thurmont; five grandchildren, Michelle "Shelley" Young and husband Blaine, Jr., Robert "Bobby" Snurr, Jr. and significant other Tonya, Wayne Snurr and wife Kristi, Kristin Feidler and husband Josh and Joshua Long; ten great-grandchildren Nicole Henry and husband Matt, Nathan Young, Brenden Snurr, Bronson Snurr, Kayden Snurr, Alexis Snurr, Madison Snurr, Mason Snurr, Jordan Herr and Allison Feidler; great-great grandson Oliver and three nephews and one niece.
She is preceded in death by her sons Robert Snurr, Sr., and Richard Snurr and grandson Daniel "Danny" Snurr, her brother Ray Arthur Eyler, sister-in-law Betty Eyler, brother-in-law Lonnie Snurr and close cousin Allen Myers.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at St. Catherine's for all of their compassion and care.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 8 at 10AM.
Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA.
