Janet Marie Miller

Janet Marie Miller passed away peacefully in Frederick, Maryland on May 13th, 2023 at the age of 74. She was born in Maryland on June 13th, 1948 to Lawrence C. Miller and Helen F. Owens Miller who have preceded her in death.

Janet's passion for education and love for children led her to become an Elementary School teacher in Prince George's County where she dedicated thirty years of her life instilling knowledge and positively impacting young lives. Her unwavering commitment towards inspiring and mentoring children was an essential part of her life. The countless memories and experiences shared with her students were precious to Janet, and the lessons she taught them will remain an invaluable part of their lives.

In Janet's passing, she is survived by her sister, Shirley Thomas; brother, Larry Miller; brother-in-law, John Finkbohner; niece, Jennifer Best; nephew, Ronald Thomas as well as three grand nieces and two grand nephews.

The positive impacts that Janet made can never be measured or fully described; however, she often recounted being proudest of the influence she had on the many lives she touched throughout her career; after all “Our greatest natural talent is creating joy for others”- Janet Marie Miller.

Though Janet spent most of her life educating tomorrow’s leaders, she found joy in learning as well. She loved reading about new subjects and exploring new ideas moving with time’s change. Additionally, Janet enjoyed spending time with friends playing cards and sharing laughter which was a testament to her kind spirit.

The world has lost a selfless caregiver whose kindness knew no bounds but lived through the people who knew and loved her. We will all miss Janet dearly; however, we can always remember how lucky we were to know such a generous soul who dedicated much of herself to making our society better.
