Janet Johnson

Janet LaVerne Johnson, 86, entered her heavenly reward on January 21, 2018 after an extended illness. She passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family.

A very much-loved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, LaVerne was pre-deceased by her parents, brother, and husband, G. Robert Johnson. She is survived by her children Debra Horton (Keith), Marc Johnson, and Pamela Collins (James), grand children Aaron Horton, Anson Horton (Rachel), Jonathan Collins and Daniel Collins (Emily), great-grandchildren Ethan, Zachary and Isabel Collins and Leonie Horton.

LaVerne was a loving and caring person with a huge heart who was always thinking of others. An accomplished professional woman, as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years she received certifications in open-heart surgical care, respiratory care and home and hospice care. Near the end of her career she obtained her BSN and was able to achieve a life-long dream of teaching.

She was also a very creative and artistic person, writing and performing many dramatic monologues and skits that she shared both professionally and with her church family.

A memorial service will be held at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walkersville, Maryland on Saturday April 7th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon.
