Jane Elizabeth (Clopper) Houser, 89, formerly of St. Paul Street in Boonsboro, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown.
Born on March 1, 1921, in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth Elizabeth (Itnyre) Clopper. Her husband, Vernon H. Houser, preceded her in death on March 17, 2007.
Jane was a member of the Boonsboro High School class of 1939.
Mrs. Houser was the Librarian at the Boonsboro Library for over 40 years. She also had worked in the cafeteria at the Boonsboro Middle School.
Jane was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boonsboro. She had formerly been a member of the Ladies Auxilliary of the Boonsboro Fire and Rescue Company and served as Treasurer for many years.
She is survived by her daugher, Sue E. Kershner and her husband Ronald of Hagerstown; her son, Kim B. Houser of Baltimore; her sister, June C. Haynes and her husband Richard of Rohrersville; and her grandson, Stewart H. Kershner and his wife Yanina. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter Isabel C. Kershner and her great-grandson Kilian A. Kershner.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Rev. Joseph I. Donovan, III will officiate. Burial will follow at the Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
